I've been monitoring an occasional phenomenon I'm calling Starmer
Numbers, because there's something inherently deceitful about their
formulation. For some reason they don't seem to work when there's more
than one per draw, but when there is only one, the chance of it being
drawn is historically somewhere between 1 in 3 and 1 in 5 of it being drawn.

There's a Starmer Number for Wednesday's Lotto draw: 23.

NB I won't be buying a Hotpick ticket for it.

Well as befitting the PM it is a Prime Number ;-)

Past performance is no indication of blah blah...

The New York Lotto is identical in format to the UK Lotto (6+B/59), and
that's where I first noticed the Starmer numbers. The UK has thrown up
38 for Saturday. New York was Starmer-free on both Wednesday and
Saturday :-)

So 55 and 56 came up.

Although a double did come up (prize £60, from £28 outlay), seems like
for just 8 numbers the single bet might be less risky. Outlay £8 return
£12.
