Tattersalls is an old established Lottery and poker machine operater
with an excellent track record running Lotto games in the Australian
States or Territories of Victoria, Tasmania, Northern Territory, ACT
and now in New South Wales (NSW). The only noteworthy fact apart from
being good value shares is that in say Victoria you deal with
Tattersalls when buying your tickets online and pay pretty well what
you pay at a newsagent but in NSW you do not deal with Tattersalls but
another company with a previously awarded contract by the now ousted
NSW Labor goverment that charge an exorbitant amount on top of the
normal price.

Tattersalls in 1972 imported Two Barrells from Germany and introduced
Lotto. They ALTERNATED each machine every draw..

http://www.youtube.com/user/MrOzlottoWizard#p/u/1/ZA-aKFKGOL0

Powerball has 3 barrels in total, 2 of which are used to conduct each
draw. These barrels alternate in sequence with every draw. There are 3
sets of main number (blue balls) and 3 sets of Powerball (silver)
balls. These sets are also alternated with each draw. The barrel
rotation sequence for Powerball is 1-2, 3-1, 1-3, 2-1, 3-2, 2-3. This
is then repeated from the beginning of the sequence. E.G. for
Powerball (Draw #607) barrel 1 was used for drawing the main numbers
and barrel 2 for drawing the Powerball. The following week (Draw #608)
used barrel 3 for the main barrel and barrel 1 for the Powerball.
(Draw #609) used barrel 1 for drawing the main numbers and barrel 3
for the Powerball.etc.

Different Ball Sets have absolutely no effect on Lotto Draw outcomes

The outcome sought is a random selection from 45 objects of 5 objects
in the case of PowerBall in Australia without replacement and then a
random selection of 1 object from a separate set of 45 objects and in
both cases each object must have equal opportunity to be picked. How
this is done is of no consequence as long as the criteria are met.
This means that computer selection is OK as well as 45 hand written at
the time of the draw numbered.ping pong balls.

There will always be delusional people that think because some Ping
Pong balls have more ink on them as with 1 contrasted with 45 then
this effects the outcomes. It is of course nonsense. None of these
freaks can demonstrate any bias in any analysis. They are simply a
fringe element of society to be grouped with other occultists and in
particular numerologists and to be held in a lower regard than those
who still believe the earth is flat.

All the Australian Lotto games have been tested by Colin Fairbrother
for any bias and none has been found.

This link to the National Lottery Commission gives extensive details
of testing done in the UK: -

No testing is done by Tattersalls or Victoria government

in Reality in Powerball its 3 seperate 5/45 lotto games and 3 seperate
1/45 games

each draw is NUMBERED.

IF you are analyzing sequentially without ALL THE VARIABLES

your delusional

A lottery draw is an independent event which means it has no effect on
any other draw anywhere anytime..

The connection between the draws for a particular Lotto game is simply
the time stamp given to it after the draw.

Clever idiots are like good con-artists they can fool people for a
while but the not so clever ones give themselves away in a sentance or
two.

Colin you never set foot in the studios anywhere in Australia firstly
and you have not the faintest idea how Tattersalls conducts Lottery
draws in Australia u on my you can see years of draw rosters obtained
from the Victorian Gov supervisor..in the first Tattslotto game they
brought 2 barrels each with a set of lotto balls from Germany they
used one for the live draw and had the other as a standyby backup..and
every draw they alternated the barrels..1 then 2..then they change to
making the barrels here at Braeside by Paul Ket the Engineer..you
never knew anything but what u made up in your own delusions on your
head..they dont do anything like they do in the UK or Canada or
USA...yes it all just a bunch of numbers and there is no relationship
the way you look at it from your reality..

you never set foot in the tv studio nor spoke with the GOV supervisors
nor have any idea whatsoever how they gonduct a DRAW..

In 1972 Tattersalls FOOLED everybody from the first draw..they uses
TWO barrels in the studio each with a set of Lotto balls, and every
draw aternated the barrels..and ballsets..

so 26 draws a year from each barrel yes 2 seperate lotto games Rolled
in to ONE named "Tattslotto"

even the public statistics BOGUS!

frequency published BOGUS
they also changes Barrels over the years and ballsets

what da hell to you know about Tattersalls Lotteries

your with your penchant erazt statistics and mathematics

in the MID week Tattslotto game the SAME SET OF 6 numbers were drawn
twice in its history

any wonder because they were using TWO different Barrels each with a
set of Lotto Balls

in the first draw it was Barrel 1 in the next draw when the same 6
numbers were drawn it was Barrel 2..

they even put a sticker with a number 1 and 2 on the machines

tell us Colin what color are the lotto balls what they made of

you never won anything yourself with your delusions

Lotto idiots just can't get their head around the fact that Lotto
draws are independent events.

The occurrence of a Lotto draw anywhere, any time does not affect the
likelihood of another Lotto draw anywhere, anytime.

As I have pointed out time and again they don't have to deal with
millions of possibilities because if there was just a smidgen of truth
in their erroneous contention that what has occurred before will
affect future outcomes then they should be able to demonstrate this in
the simplest case as for a hypothetical but relevant Pick 6 and Pool 7
Lotto game. See : -

changed the barrels over the years so u need to use regression..i am
not against Ion Saliu at all..but this is the reality u are analyzing
the wrong data..yes seperate data for each machine ok..then u will see
the truth and be able to see patterns..fool i tried to tell u the

And she's so altruistic. Most people would keep quiet about a winning
lottery system and let the millions roll in. But no, she had to let the
whole world know her system so everyone could become millionaires.

No wonder John Griffin eloped with her.

Dennis,

Do you sell for Gail Howard?

I have all her stuff...All the books, all the software, even some
cassette tapes with her describing how to use the different boards...

I play in SW Ontario, Canada, where our Ontario Lottery and Gaming
Commission ( OLGC ) make use of 2 machines and 2 different ball sets for all
of our Ontario lotteries, according to an OLG phone-answering rep named
Serena, whom I called and spoke to at 1-800-387-0098 ( push 7 for general
inquiries ) in my Ontario, Canada calling area. ( If you do not live in
North America, you can reach their General Receptionist to be forwarded to
the correct person or station by dialling long-distance 1-705-946-6464 ).

The draws which Serena mentioned were most of the Ontario games... the
Daily Keno ( 20/70 ), Ontario 49 ( a 6/49 game ), Lottario ( a 6/45 game ),
Pick 3, Pick 4, ( I'm not sure how they use the same 2 draw
machines/ball-sets for the Pick 6 games and also for the Pick 3/4
games...and I was afraid to ask and maybe confuse the young lady ), Poker
Lotto, Encore, and Early Bird numbers ( Encore numbers are randomly vendor
machine-chosen, and are printed separately on game tickets on which you want
to pay an extra dollar for in order to buy an Encore selection for a chance
at an extra million tax-free dollars on that ticket, ...and an Early Bird
number set qualifies for an early-bird prize if you buy your ticket early in
the week before certain draws which carry the Early-Bird Bonus draw ).

Serena claimed that a third party flips a coin with a 1 and a 2 printed
on opposite sides of the coin to determine which machine, and which ball-set
is to be used for the current draw at the primary location ( Prize
Headquarters in Toronto, Ontario ). In case of a power failure or other
calamity, OLG uses a second location if necessary to perform a draw, and
that there is only one machine and one ball-set at that location. ( I didn't
ask where it was located ). The draws are not broadcast live on-the-air, but
they are shown on a big screen in an area where a limited amount of
publicans can watch in real-time at the OLG prize headquarters ( in Toronto,
Ontario, where most of the draws are held unless they were forced to use the
secondary location ). Current draws can also be viewed at the OLG website at
www.olg.ca , and are updated on the site nightly at about 10:30 PM for the
latest Daily draws.

Our National Canadian Lotto 6/49, and LottoMax ( a 7/49 game ) both use
one the machine, but two different ball-sets for each game, meaning four
different ball-sets...2 different sets for 6/49, and 2 different sets for
the 7/49. She said the same selection machine was used for both! I hope she
was right. If I call tomorrow, the next chick may tell me something
different, so I did my duty, and left the suggestion that they post the
current machine, ball-set, and coin-flipping info right on their website for
all to see...I also asked her to send me a photo or video of herself to
***@mnsi.net

I'm interested in the 20/70 Keno play ( which allows us to pick 2, 3, 4,
5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 numbers at one dollar per play ), and also the Ontario
49 game ( which has a fixed jackpot of one million tax-free dollars per draw
as well as smaller tier prizes, and the tickets only cost 50 cents each ). I
would rather wheel 7 or 8 numbers into 4-number combos for keno, and at 50
cents each, I can wheel more of a pool of the Ontario 49 numbers for a
better hit coverage.

I'm looking forward to your strategy because, I do also believe that we
can beat random chance, however the Ontario Lottery payout scheme makes it
less desirable to win smaller tier prizes, and I've never hit a jackpot yet.
Teach us. Keep the newsgroup going. Ignore the harsh criticism which you are
about to receive. I never pay much attention to it, 'cause they're all

On page 87 of Gail Howard's "Lottery Master Guide" she states:

Lotteries use more than one set of balls and more than one drawing
machine.

Well in Australia they use a lotto machine wiith a set of lotto
balls..and the Draws are NUMBERED.

and they use more than One Barrel and ALTERNATE the barrels every draw
in there process of RANDOMIZATION.

A 100 game draw history when divided by among the TWO diiferent
MACHINE sets, amounts to only a 50 game drawing history.

WE CAN KNOW IN ADVANCE WHICH MACHINE WILL BE USED FOR A GIVEN DRAW!

because we can know and track the ROTATION of the machines and because
each ROTATION is used and equal amount of times.

Lotto number do win more often in some Rotations than in others.

so who here wants to join me in a quest for a TAX FREE Australian
Lotto Jackpot?

colin says:

"The thought occurred to me for those that use history why stop at
1,000 possibilities as in Pick 3? In the state of Victoria in
Australia, Tattersalls an independent operator under government
license has Pick 2 or Tatts 2 which uses the integers from 1 to 99.
The odds for getting 2 right are 1 in 4,851 and this pays a minimum of
$500; for getting 1 right it is only 1 in 25 which pays $3.00."

Call Kim Tierny he tell you the truth they used 2 barrels in Tatts Two
and alternated them every draw!

Tattersall’s House
615 St. Kilda Road
Melbourne VIC 3004
+61 3 8517 7777 (Monday to Friday 8am-5pm AEDT)

To illustrate my point. in Keno that’s drawn daily in Victoria they
use two machines each with its own set of keno balls and alternate the
machines every draw..so in reality, we are playing two different 20/80
Keno games..let look at two draws just to see the reality..if we are
tracking each individual machine

Keno Machine 1:
Tatts Keno Draw No: 7067
Draw Date:02.04.08
02-04-11-12-16-22-23-26-29-35-38-39-57-61-62-64-66-70-77-78
Tatts Keno Draw No: 7069
Draw Date: 30.04.08
04-12-14-16-18-20-22-25-28-33-36-37-38-49-54-61-70-76-79-80

Game 7069 had:
10 Adjacent Numbers Drawn from the previous draw.
07 Repeat Numbers Drawn from the previous draw.
06 ODD Numbers and 14 EVEN NUMBERS DRAWN
13 Numbers Drawn in the lower half eg low 1-40 hi 41-80
Neigboring Pairs Hit 1 time: 11-12, 22-23, 36-37, 38-39, 61-62, 77-78,
79-80
Neigboring Triads Hit 1 time 36-37-38

now imagine thousands of draws, the percentages u would see..

Let’s take another example Wed Tattslotto 6/40 + 2 Bonus
They use two machines each with its own set of LOTTO balls and
alternate the machines every draw..so in reality, we are playing two
different6/40 + 2 BONUS LOTTO games..let look at two draws just to see
the reality..if we are tracking each individual machine

428,20080409,40,02,25,09,12,05,11,18
430,20080423,11,26,04,24,20,06,30,18

Game 430 had: 6 Adjacent numbers drawn from the previous draw
Game 430 had: 2 repeat Numbers drawn from the previous draw

Even though numbers are Randomly Drawn, they form patterns that are to
a certain extent predictable.

A Lotto idiot just can't get his head around the fact that it doesn't
matter what method is used in randomly coming up with the winning
objects in a Lotto draw as long as each object has equal opportunity
to be randomly picked.

One week you could use a tumbling container from a selection of 5,000,
next week an algorithm and the following week a big paper bag in which
ping pong balls are marked with the pool of numbers and it won't
matter one iota.

Give the idiot a Pick 6, Pool 7 Lotto game with only 7 possibilities
instead of millions and a history of random selections and he is
unable to give the following selection. The people that say they can
do it but are unable to demonstrate that ability when put to the test
are quite simply con-artists.

Exploring the guts of any gambling game can provide knowledge that can
make the difference between the type of prize you win, or if you win
at all.

"I am a Take Five player, as well as a faithful reader of your
column," writes Matt from Westbury, L.I. "I like to play the wheels
you have published for Take Five, and have had some success.

"Recently, I was reading about Take Five ball rotations, so I e-mailed
the state lottery and asked about ball order rotations, their
schedules and stuff like that.

"They sent me back an Excel spreadsheet for all of 2007 that contains
the elements: date, rotation (there are six) and loading (there are
two - Nos. 6 and 7). They didn't say how this information relates to
the 39 draw balls. Any thoughts?"

Anyone that's watched a live Take Five drawing on Channel 7 has
already seen the New York State Lottery's rotation system in action,
though most were not aware of it.

What the six different rotations refer to is the six different ways
the drawing machine is loaded prior to each drawing. There is a fixed
order that each of the numbered balls go into in all six tubes of the
machine.

The rotation part comes with the next drawing where they rotate the
balls in the far left tube to the far right tube. With each succeeding
drawing those first tube balls move one tube left until you get back
to the original spot (far left tube).

The actual ball order in each tube does not vary during this process,
just the position of each tube. The six or seven the lottery mentioned
refers to whether the first tube (far left) has six or seven balls in
it.

Still confused? For more information on Take Five rotations, and a
complete breakdown of the number order for each rotation, I am

Roulette Biased Wheel Attack

The biased wheel attack is a strategy to beat the roulette wheel by
attacking its inevitable physical imperfections. It is quite
impossible for man to create a perfect machine. The roulette wheel is
made from wood and metal and subject to wear and tear over time.
Further the wheel is operated by a human who may also add to the
imperfect running of the wheel. Further, roulette wheels are
incredibly expensive machines and casinos will be willing to accept
small imperfections to get longer life out of each wheel (as long as
they don't detect anyone making systematic profit from those
imperfections!)

The perfect roulette wheel needs to be flawlessly balanced, the
pockets uniformly surfaced and structured, the frets uniformly
resilient and resistant to wear, and the dealers incapable of
consciously or unconsciously controlling the ball. It is quite
impossible for an active wheel to remain perfect over the long run,
rather it is quite natural for the wheel to deviate from perfectly
random outcomes more and more over the long run. A slight groove
invisible to the human eye will be enough to cause the ball to drop
more in one position more than others. Over time as the groove becomes
more travelled becomes more deeper and deeper. That is, small
imperfections are likely to grow more reliable over time.

The biased wheel strategy seeks to find these imperfections and
exploit the subsequent positive odds from certain outcomes on biased
wheels.

This is proof from inside Tattersalls that they use more than one
lotto barrel in each of the lottery games conducted in Victoria. These
are copies of the official draw rosters curculated with Tattersalls
and the VCGR. I have been recieving these copies from the Victorian
Government Supervisor, resident at Tattersalls since 1995.

you can call or write Mr. Kim Tierny The Victorian Government

this what he with tell you about Australia Powerball:

"Powerball has 3 barrels in total, 2 of which are used to conduct each
(Draw #609) used barrel 1 for drawing the main numbers and barrel 3
for the Powerball.".

For a hypothetical but relevant Pick 6, Pool 7 Lotto game there are
only 7 possible outcomes and Lotto idiots have a problem when
considering the previous 7 draws in relation to it having some effect
on the next draw. It is possible to have all outcomes in 7 lines but
as the order to them is important and also repetitions are possible
including having all 7 lines the same then there are precisely 7! or
823,543 different arrangements to produce only 7 outcomes. Now, if a
Lotto idiot could show that there was some consistency in 117,649
arrangements producing a particular outcome there would be the makings
of an argument but the reality is there is no consistency with any of
the 7 possible outcomes following any arrangement ie it is random.

I noticed an interview on TV the other day with a reformed previous
chronic gambler who explained how embracing rational thinking led to
his recovery. Sadly, some Lotto idiots are so far gone that the
chances of them letting a little logic into their life is nigh on
impossible. Part of understanding them is to realize that if they
think they are getting some attention then this is satisfying their
underlying craving.

Without a doubt the best course of action is to ignore them.

When you next select your lottery numbers, be sure to pick 38. That is
the conclusion of a previously unpublished report by the National
Lottery Commission, which unearthed a series of statistical anomalies
that, taken at face value, suggest the lottery might not be as random
as was previously thought.

Completed in early 2002, the nine-page document entitled 'The
Randomness of the National Lottery' was meant to offer irrefutable
proof that it was random. But the statisticians who produced the
report, Dr John Haigh and Professor Charles Goldie, members of the
Royal Statistical Society and readers in mathematics at the University
of Sussex, hit a snag. The lottery seemed not to be as subject to
chance as it should be. Some combinations popped up with 'unusually
high' frequency, and others showed a 'major departure from
randomness'.

The revelation of the report's existence is bound to spark public
interest. The commission has regular calls from people suggesting the
lottery is not random, allegations that have to be investigated.

The two academics found that 38 was drawn so many times that they
wondered whether it needed to be 'physically examined' to see if there
was an anomaly in the balls' make-up which meant it was sucked out of
the lottery machines more often. The report also found that the 'bonus
ball', drawn from the Lancelot machine using one particular set of
balls, would usually be a high number - 40 or above. In addition, the
Thunderball game produced freak patterns. Draws that were four weeks
apart seemed to 'talk' to each other. If one draw favored a high set
of numbers, there would be a correspondingly low set four draws later.

Perhaps alarmed at how the findings would be received, the commission
did not publicize them, simply noting in its annual report that a
Royal Statistical Society study had 'confirmed that results were
consistent with the draw being random'.

The 2002 report, covering 637 draws from the game's inception in 1994
to the end of January 2002, was the first to uncover anomalies. 'This
was the first time that we said "unusual things do happen from time to
time and this is one of them",' Haigh said.

'I suspect the National Lottery Commission hadn't thought things
through. They hadn't considered what would happen if us wallahs were
to tell them something fishy was going on.'

Haigh and Goldie found that over 637 draws you would expect each
number to be drawn between 70 and 86 times. But they found that 38
came up 107 times, 14 times more than the next most drawn ball.

'That some number has been drawn 107 times is very unusual - the
chance is under 1 per cent,' the report noted before suggesting that
'the balls numbered 38 be physically examined to give assurance that
there is no reason to suspect they are different.'

Today the 38 continues to be the luckiest ball - drawn 144 times.
However, the number of times it has been drawn since the report was
completed is now in line with what statisticians would expect.

The report also found that 'high numbers in one [Thunderball] draw
have tended to be followed four draws later by low numbers, more often
than is easily attributable to chance and vice versa'. Another
puzzling pattern concerned the Lancelot machine's propensity to pick a
high numbered bonus ball when combined with the 'number five set of
balls', something that had happened on 15 occasions in the 637 draws
studied. The report said this was a 'major departure from randomness'.

A spokeswoman for the watchdog said it ensured rigorous checks were
carried out on a regular basis. 'Every set of balls is checked every
five times they are used. If you trawl through an awful lot of data
you are always going to uncover patterns somewhere.' Subsequent
reports have also confirmed the random nature of the lottery.

Asked why the commission had not publicized the report's findings, the
spokeswoman said it hadn't been the watchdog's policy in the past, but
that this would change in the new year when the Freedom of Information
Act came into force.

Do you have a link for this article online?

I was aware of a Salford University audit of the UK National Lottery.
They noted the abnormal number of 38's, but observed that it wasn't
statistically significant. From what I understand of the text you
published below, the same applies - interesting, but not statistically
significant.

Last year they changed the machines and ballsets so any hypothetical
continuation of physical trends was thwarted.

well, in 1995 i approached Tattersalls here in Melbourne and this is
what i discovered

in 1972 Tattersalls introduced Tattslotto in Victoria..they went to
Germany for 3 months on a fact finding mission..they brought TWO Lotto
ball drawing machines made by Hans Brosch Electrotechnick each with a
set of Lotto Balls so the game Tattslotto is based on what they
introduced from Germany..they had two these barrels each with a set of
lotto balls and they conducted live draws in the studio ..each barrel
has a set of lotto balls and they never changed the ballset through
the history of the game....much later they introduced barrels that
were locally made by Paul Ket and associates in Braeside ,,so in the
first draw of Tattslotto they had one barrel for the live draw and the
other was kept as a backup in case of a malfunction..they conducted
just one pre draw test of the machine to make sure that the machine
was working..then they had the first official draw..the following draw
they "alternated or swapped the barrels and used the second barrel for
the live draw barrel 1 as the backup..and so it went like this 1 then
2 then on then 2 etc..so in reality 26 draws a year from each
machine ..two 6/40 plus 1 bonus lotto games rolled into ONE 52 weeks a
year..

Victoria - 11 December 99
3rd Time Unlucky! - Balls don't Drop
After an impeccable record over its history it's the 3rd time in 4
months that a lottery drawing machine has malfunctioned on live
television. Tattslotto draw 1919 (Victoria Australia) was meant to
start its usual routine of dropping the set of 45 balls, mixing them
and then selecting them one by one but.....nothing happened! the 2
presenters stood there 'hinting' for the draw to start a couple of
times as they had finished there little pre draw blurb but nothing
happened. The problem was said to be an electrical fault possible from
a power surge.

Australia - 21 August 1999
2nd time unlucky, Tattslotto draw No.1887 malfunctions too!
After years of faultless operation the second lottery drawing machine
has malfunctioned in a week. This time it was Tattslotto's turn.
Instead of 10+ balls flying out like in the oz lotto draw (see
below) this time 1 ball got stuck!

On an interview after the first malfunction a radio announcer
interviewing the lottery person said "maybe we can place bets on
weather the machine will break down" the lottery reply was that the
odds would be so greatly stacked against a break down that it could be
thousands (or millions, I can't remember) to 1. The announcer said
he'd take the odds and put $1 on it, jokingly. Well he should of cause
he'd now be a rich man!!!

Australia - 17 August 1999
Oz lotto draw No.287 goes into a frenzy!
An Australia wide Lottery draw, Oz Lotto, went wild when the machine
started drawing numbers so fast that they had to declare the draw to
be void and bring in a spare machine to complete the draw. There is a
minor uproar from people who had the 'void' numbers.
The lady who was hosting said she often joked about what she would do
if something wrong happened as she would have to fill in 2 minutes. On
a remark that this footage would be shown around the world as a
blooper she jokingly admitted "of all the nights, it was a bad hair
night too!"

AS a professional Lottery handicapper i would like to dispel certain
misconceptions and myths about lottery theory and prepositions which
has been disseminated and circulated by various current and
contemporary software programs and books and so called “experts”. The
scope of this discussion is also to clarify theoretical positions and
philosophies concerning random numbers and concomitant predictions.

The Great Myth of Lottery Theory

The Great Myth of Lottery Theory is, in a nutshell, is along the lines
of this:“All numbers of a lottery should, on average, be picked a
certain number of times. For example, if there are 48 numbers in a
lottery,
each number should be chosen once every 48 times (or 1:48 odds). If
this number has not been picked in this timeframe, then it is overdue.
Therefore, the odds of this number being picked has increased from the
1:48 odds.”
A corollary to this theory concerns “hot” numbers, viz., numbers which
have been picked more often than the statistical average.
This argument may seem reasonable, at first thought. But it is
completely invalid. This clever argument is what is known as a logical
fallacy, also known as a non-sequitur.
Almost all lottery software programs rely on, and are based on, this
fallacy, which can be proved to be invalid through strong inductive,
deductive and statistical analysis.
Actually, this argument would be valid if the lottery balls came from
a single, non-replenishing pool. For example, suppose there were a
barrel of 48 balls, numbered from one to 48. Each lottery drawing
chooses six
balls from this pool, but the chosen balls are never returned. Eight
drawings of six numbers are pulled from this barrel. For the first
drawing, the odds of any single number being drawn is 1:48. But
because the balls are
not returned, the odds of drawing a particular number increases (if
that number has not already been drawn).
For the second drawing, the odds increase to 1:42. Third drawing,
1:36. And so on until the final drawing
pulls the remaining six numbers from the barrel, when the odds are
1:1, or 100% chance that the remaining six
numbers will be picked.
But that is not how lotteries work. After each drawing, the number
pool is reset, back up to the full set.

1 Similarly, roulette replenishes its number set after every draw

The Great Truth of Lottery Theory

True random numbers cannot be predicted. The lottery balls have no
memory of which should be pulled, or which is overdue to be pulled.
Neither do the lottery machines. Similarly, in the casino game of
roulette, you
can, for example, have black numbers hit eight times in a row. The
odds of the next number in the series being red is still, and always,
50% (even though the odds of having a run of nine black numbers in a
row is 29, or
1:512).2 For simplicity, we are disregarding the one (European) or two
(American) green (vigorish) numbers.
The truth is that mechanical methods of lottery drawings are not truly
random.
They are very close to random, but not perfectly random. Even with
lottery officials’ attempts to make the drawings random, some weighted
influence can alter the randomness. For example, does the weight of
the ink on the balls have an effect? After all, the number “38” has
over eight times the weight of ink than “1”.
Some balls have more ink than others, so there must be a weight
variance. Are the balls of exactly the same
thickness? Certainly not; plastic manufacturers generally cannot keep
tolerances tighter than ±0.005″ (±0.127
mm). Different thicknesses mean different weights. Although the weight
differences are small, they still could
(and probably do) effect whether some balls get picked more often than
others.
Some countries use wheels, instead of balls, to select the winning
numbers. Are the wheels in perfect balance?
Is the wheel spun with exactly the same torque? At the exact same
starting position? The answer is, of course,“no”.

For one who wants to win the lottery, the challenge is in finding
these subtle non-random influences.

A popular Academy-award winning movie, “A Beautiful Mind” (which was
based on the book of the same name), exemplifies this concept: the
Nobel Laureate and mathematician John Nash had the uncanny ability to
see patterns in encrypted messages that were, for all practical
purposes, “invisible” to the ordinary person.
His abilities were, indeed, an anomaly. Very few people have this
skill. Computers, on the other hand, are uniquely adapted to this type
of task, given their extraordinary speed of computation and
extrapolation.

VARIABLES?

then, say form a Powerful International Syndicate to take aim and a
HUGE Lotto Jackpot in Australia?

Im here in Melbourne close to everything and can make my contribution
to the success of OUR SYNDICATE of Lottery Games Analysts.

Now that we are aware of the odds we must beat and how this Operator
of Australian Lotto conducts its draws of Random Chance.

Ozlotto7 amd Powerball may rise again to the 100 Million mark.

but as an Intelligent community of sofisticated Lotto Punters we can
take dead aim at one or two jackpots here

and beat the Quickpickers and System Players to the post..

Anyone here interested in this analytical approach?

AS a professional Lottery handicapper
Presumably this article is copied from somewhere. What is a lottery
handicapper?
Post by Dennis Calafati
i would like to dispel certain
misconceptions and myths about lottery theory and prepositions which
has been disseminated and circulated by various current and
contemporary software programs and books and so called “experts”. The
scope of this discussion is also to clarify theoretical positions and
philosophies concerning random numbers and concomitant predictions.
The Great Myth of Lottery Theory
The Great Myth of Lottery Theory is, in a nutshell, is along the lines
of this:“All numbers of a lottery should, on average, be picked a
certain number of times.
That's true.
Post by Dennis Calafati
For example, if there are 48 numbers in a
lottery,
each number should be chosen once every 48 times (or 1:48 odds).
That isn't true.
Post by Dennis Calafati
If
this number has not been picked in this timeframe, then it is overdue.
That is true.
Post by Dennis Calafati
Therefore, the odds of this number being picked has increased from the
1:48 odds.”
That isn't necessarily true.
Post by Dennis Calafati
A corollary to this theory concerns “hot” numbers, viz., numbers which
have been picked more often than the statistical average.
This argument may seem reasonable, at first thought. But it is
completely invalid. This clever argument is what is known as a logical
fallacy, also known as a non-sequitur.
Almost all lottery software programs rely on, and are based on, this
fallacy,
Mine don't.
Post by Dennis Calafati
which can be proved to be invalid through strong inductive,
deductive and statistical analysis.
I get the 'statistical analysis', but I fail to see the part played by
'strong inductive' and 'deductive', whatever they might be.
Post by Dennis Calafati
If it's so great a truth, try proving it. See below my point about the
meaning of 'random'.
Post by Dennis Calafati
The lottery balls have no
memory of which should be pulled, or which is overdue to be pulled.
Neither do the lottery machines. Similarly, in the casino game of
roulette, you
can, for example, have black numbers hit eight times in a row. The
odds of the next number in the series being red is still, and always,
50% (even though the odds of having a run of nine black numbers in a
row is 29, or
1:512).2 For simplicity, we are disregarding the one (European) or two
(American) green (vigorish) numbers.
Very religionist.
Post by Dennis Calafati
The truth is that mechanical methods of lottery drawings are not truly
random.
They are very close to random, but not perfectly random.
Define what you understand by 'random' and by 'perfectly random'. Some
research I'm working on suggests that we really have a very poor idea of
what constitutes random.
Post by Dennis Calafati
Even with
lottery officials’ attempts to make the drawings random, some weighted
influence can alter the randomness. For example, does the weight of
the ink on the balls have an effect? After all, the number “38” has
over eight times the weight of ink than “1”.
Bollocks. The technology to ensure all balls weigh the same is identical
to that used to ensure all faces of gaming-standard dice weigh the same.
The paint weight theory is a low-grade urban myth.
Post by Dennis Calafati
He developed algorithms to predict the behaviour of stock markets.
That's no big deal. I would have been impressed if he'd developed
algorithms to predict lottery draws.
Post by Dennis Calafati
To illustrate my point. in Keno that’s drawn daily in Victoria they
use two machines each with its own set of keno balls and alternate the
machines every draw..so in reality, we are playing two different 20/80
Keno games..let look at two draws just to see the reality..if we are
tracking each individual machine
Tatts Keno Draw No: 7067
Draw Date:02.04.08
02-04-11-12-16-22-23-26-29-35-38-39-57-61-62-64-66-70-77-78
Tatts Keno Draw No: 7069
Draw Date: 30.04.08
04-12-14-16-18-20-22-25-28-33-36-37-38-49-54-61-70-76-79-80
So are you rich yet?

Eight numbers are drawn without replacement the last two numbers being
the supplementary or bonus numbers.

Cost per line is a bit over a $1.00 from an agent with the lowest
prize at odds of 1 in 87 paying about $13.00 if you get 3 main numbers
plus 1 or 2 bonus numbers. The next higher prize for 4 main numbers
pays about $20.00.

For someone wheeling 19 integers with 7 integers per line the cost for
a full wheel of 50,388 lines would be over $50,000.00. If doing a 4 if
7 for 19 integers the number of lines would be 15 as in: -

01 03 09 36 37 39 45
01 07 15 16 18 25 36
01 08 09 15 19 25 45

No Jack! Calafati is *not* Thunderchild!

Dennis Calafati and Colin Fairbrother are one and the same fuckwit! This,
despite his useless efforts to conceal that fact!

Think about it Jack..

The only way Fairbrother can keep the RGL Forum alive, is to send in bogus
posts as (in this case as Dennis Calafati) and reply to himself in his usual
arrogant/ignorant/tedious manner! Up to a point, he is succeeding as you,
Nigel, Gerry (and now me) have all posted replies.

Obviously, Fairbrother-the-fuckwit simply cannot exist without regularly
expressing and seeing in print, his own boring, egotistical narcissism.

neo-Nazi fuckwit!

Any and *all* syndicate winnings I reported here in RGL over the years, were
*always* backed up by a jpeg copy of the winning ticket(s).. 100%!

You say I used tickets 'purchased by others'!! Pray tell me Herr Führer..
where the fk would I obtain winning lottery tickets purchased by others?

At that time, I never saw what you wrote about me (6th August 2010) on your
mind-numbingly boring, Neo-Nazi, self-monitored, censored forum and I doubt
very much if any RGL subscriber ever clicked on the many links to it, that
you regularly sent in here.. and still do!

You continue to condemn RGL and its few remaining subscribers, yet you
continue to subscribe here! That in mind, you can accurately be described
as a nasty, double-dyed, false-accusing, two-faced fuckwit!

You may not be aware that there are doctors who can successfully treat
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) and it is advised you take this
sound advice and see one.. ASAP!

Computer method with weight factor. Write down all the
numbers your system uses. Star all numbers that hit in the
last four or five drawings. Double star all numbers that hit
in the last drawing. In the first round, bypass all numbers
with stars. In the second round, only bypass numbers with
double stars. From here on, heads, keep it and tails cross it
out. Continue until reduced to the 5, 6, or 7 needed for play.
Repeat for each ticket.

....................................................................

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...Nick...I think we have all reached that same conclusion already...I could
tell by the way neither of them answer any perfectly legitimate questions,
and by the useless flooding of this empty newsgroup. I also noticed that
Colin was not ripping this Calafati guy to shreds for believing the same
shit, many of us have fancied to want to believe in the past. Ion used to
pull this shit in his own forum too.

If there is a Calafati, I want to see his predictions. If Colin made up a
Calafati, it is nice to see that Colin invented him as an Italian...that was
super-intelligent of Colin to try to match wits with an Italian...Now Colin
has created a much larger problem for himself...

Compare this statement by the idiot June 23, 2011, "i show you how
many time i won the jackpot since 1995 with these secrets. every draw
i win prizes cos lotto easy to beat and predict in Australia." and
this June 25, 2011, "But i dont play every draw only when i feel its

Maybe the idiot thinks there is a correlation between the size of the

SOME NOTES ON BIAS:
In my studies of various forms of gambling and their related
systems of play, I have become acutely aware of the subject of bias. I
am presenting this article as a basis for discussion of bias relative
to lotto/lottery games. Many of the participants in this group have
vehemently declared, without presenting any supporting evidence, that
no form of bias has been proved in lotto/lottery games. This just is
not true. Let's start by defining the various forms of bias that can
be
reflected in the numbers generated by lotto/lottery games.

PROCEDURAL BIAS:

This form of bias is introduced into the lotto/lottery game by
the efforts of the game administrators to eliminate other forms of
bias. Lottery officials run numerous test draws each week in an effort
to detect and elimnate any form of bias in the official drawings. In
an article in LOTTO WORLD [June 22, 1995] J.S. Avren deals with the
affects of this type of bias in his article entitled "When Numbers
Die". In this article the author points out with illustrations one of
the affects of this type of bias. The problem that administrators
create is this: the numbers drawn in test draws do not show up in
statistical analysis of the official results, and therefor these
missing numbers cause the official results to not reflect actual
drawing results. This affect shows up as numbers that disappear from
the results for up to a year or more in lotto games and up to several
weeks in daily number games. The author cites the change in frequency
for numbers in the Florida Lotto game. Virtually every week at leasst
one number drops from the draw list and stays gone for at least one
year. Also the average frequency of number draws has changed. "Three
years ago, annual frequencies of 15 and 16 were not unheard of. For
the
past three years, no number has attained an annual frequency of
exceeding 14. Within the past year, only two numbers have achieved
annual frequency of 13. Frequencies of between nine and 11 are the
consistent highs in today's Florida lottery..." Thus the efforts of
the officials to compensate for bias in the lotto/lottery games
produces a discernable bias.

PRODUCTION BIAS:

This form of bias could also be called mechanical bias. It deals
with the mechanical system that produces the result. In lotto/lottery
it would be a reflection of the machine used to generate the winning
numbers. With regards to production bias the relevant question is: is
it possible to create a machine that will generate truly random
numbers
over any period of draws? Obviously the answer of the lottery
officials
is "no". If their machines were seen as capable of generating random
numbers on a consistent basis there would be no need for all of the
precedures that they take to test the randomness of the numbers drawn
in repeated tests. This form, of bias is present in all forms of
gambling that rquire some sort of mechanical process to achieve a
repeating result. A good example of production bias is found in the
box
bias in dog racing. Due to the mechanical layout of the dog track dogs
in boxes 1 and 2 are placed in a more advantageous postion than the
other dogs. This bias remains in the results in spite of the officials
efforts to compensate for it by randomly assigning dogs to box
positions. It is quite interesting that there is a positional bias in
jai alai also, but the bias in jai alai is process bias and not
production bias, for the most part. However, the positive bias of the
receiving team in jai alai doubles games is a combination of
production
and process bias. This form of bias is also dealt with in the book
BEATING THE WHEEL, which deals with roulette. Efforts to compensate
for production and process bias often result in procedural bias, which
skews the affects of overall bias.

PROCESS BIAS

This form of bias eminates from the rules of the game with which
you are dealing. In jai alai 8 teams play one another in a rotation
which requires the losing team to go to the back of the line of teams.
The affect of this rule is to insure that in the first cycle of games
team one or two will always have at least one point. They are the only
teams with this guarantee of points in the first round, and with the
guarantee of being first to play in the second round. Officials
attempt
to compensate for this bias by the methods that they use to assign
players to post positions. In spite of their efforts a discernable
bias
still exists at all frontons. With regards to lotto/lottery games we
must analyze the rules which define the terms of number selection and
matching and determine if any bias results from this process. In 1985
Dr. Rodney T. Hard published a book on the then Mass 6/36 lotto in
which he analyzed a system, based upon process bias, and documented
how
an individual won slightly less than $1.2 million, while cashing 83
winning tickets in 41 weeks, and playing only $10 per week on average.
I'll deal with this and other forms of bias affecting lotto/lottery
games, in a future article. At this time I simply want to difine these
terms and present some examples of each form of bias.honsupda

A message for the idiot in this thread.

Even if you are quoting idiocy it is called plagiarism when you do not
acknowledge the author. It is not a question of you trying to pass it
off as your own as anyone that has read a few words from your
repetitive babbling knows the difference between basically an
illiterate and a fool that can string together a comprehensible
sentence or two.

If you say 19 integers are more likely to occur in the next OzLotto
draw then you cannot take credit for getting 4 correct (with only 1
bonus object) or 4 main correct from the 9 objects drawn unless you
specify the lines you are playing. In the absence of lines specified
we can only assume you are playing a System 19 with 50,388 lines
costing over $50,000.00.

We know you are mentally challenged by these three statements but if
you really, really try for a couple of hours then maybe you will
understand the meaning and post some lines and use quotation marks
when quoting with a link to the original author. .

BALL SETS DRAWING MACHINES & ROTATION

Lotteries use more than one set of balls and more than one drawing
machine. Some states make ball set and drawing machine readily
available to the public. if you send in a self-addressed stamped
envelope. Other states classify it top secret, in which case you or
your lawyer can request it under the Freedom of Information Act.

Patterns are based on actual drawing results.

Advantage Plus software can track ballsets because it tracks New

I think anyone reading this thread knows it was started by an utter
crackpot whose "brain" is about to explode. We can take it his 19
integers are to be played as a System 19. Using the same ticket price
as a System 18 this will cost $57,946.20 for 50,388 lines. With 2nd
prize averaging about $28,000 I predict this idiot will lose an
average of about $40,000 or more per game.

I first received an email from this idiot 24th May, 2011 and didn't
bother to reply. If you haven't checked out Ion Salui crooning in

understand Salui and The Idiot are going to publish a multi-language

Lotto was first introduced in 1955 by the North-West German State
Lottery. Australians had their first taste of Lotto when Tattersall's
introduced Tattslotto on Thursday 22 June 1972. The Division One prize
in that very first draw was $50,000.

Tattersall's is one of the world's most carefully scrutinised and
audited organisations. Internal auditors regularly examine all facets
of Tattersall's operations and consultant external auditors do
likewise - for independent report to the Board of Trustees. A
government supervisor (MR. KIM TIERNY) from the Victorian Casino and
Gaming Authority is resident at Tattersall's and has the
responsibility for over-seeing the conduct of draws, which cannot
proceed without a government supervisor's presence. The Victorian
Government's Treasury and Auditor General's Department regularly
question, examine and review Tattersall's accounting and management
reporting.
Scrutiny by officials of the Victorian Government assures security and
propriety in the public interest and no major initiative is undertaken
by Tattersall's without prior approval from the appropriate
Government. However, as a private operator, Tattersall's performance
is ultimately judged by the market place and our ability to satisfy
the expectations of the players

The key to understanding Lotto wherever played is that it is a game of
chance, each draw is an independent event, each object has an equal
chance to be picked, previous draws are irrelevant, the method of
random selection is of no consequence as long as it does the job and
that generally the contribution of people like Gail Howard has been to
diminish the return to players by not using the full pool and
repeating paying subsets in the set of numbers played.

All of this is old hat. One should not expect much comprehension from
a mentally disturbed individual with a psychosis centered on lottery
machines and a penchant for repeating the same delusional beliefs over
and over again not to mention a taste for numerology that would make
ardent devotees turn red with embarrassment.

He gives 19 integers but does not specify how they will be played. Let
him post some meaningful lines and a reasonable number of draws should
show up his looniness. Usually they don't hang around long enough to
endure their comeuppance. It is mildly amusing to see old style user-
net posting silliness from an obviously retarded wretch.

Okay, found it.

The article was originally published in the Guardian newspaper,
well-known in the UK for its unobjective reporting. The job title of the
author, 'social affairs editor', is consistent with a lack of
statistical knowledge.

The article is reproduced in full on a number of forums, including
lotterypost. The lack of attribution makes me wonder whether they
legitimately licensed the content or whether they're breaching copyright.

Act came into force.

well im being frank here in 1995 i bought all the so called lottery
software and books read everything i could find..

but once i went into Tattersalls and spoke with the Gov supervisors
and attended live drawings here in Melb i knew that for example that
the published frequencies of numbers was bogus..

i had to put into my software the data to analyze according to what
was and is happening in the studio

i played 18 numbers first try in a syndicate in Sat lotto and i
correctly trapped 6 plus 1 bonus number!

but the custom wheel i designed guaranteed 7 out of 8 and in just one
line i had 5 plus 1 sup

a prize of second division that paid $17,000 my syndicate was not
happy with that either

well after my foray in the mid 90's into Lotto in Australa i still
play and handicap Australian Lotto..i prefer Roulette and the Local
Casino myself..
but im good frineds with the Gov Supervisor over the years and he
answers any questions i have about these ever changing variables
example malfunctions in the conduct of the draw (its not live on tv
anymore but recorded since 1999 malfunctions) and also they retire
games and machines etc all these variables i track each month with a
phone call and sometimes i go into the studio as a guest to watch
draws ..

so ive considered to Publish my findings and Statistical Analysis in
each of the games that were and are conducted by Tattersalls..

no one does this in Australia just preoccupation with lotto
degenerancy eg binomial co effiecients lotto system wheeling
whatever..

we all know Gail Howard was and is still the Pioneer of Lotto Strategy
she introduced Americans in particular to Ivan Dimitrov's Abbreviated
Wheels,

then Prof Jones ..

then Lottery Director Lotto World etc etc

Terry Fisher wheezer play all 45 numbers must win something this
huckster especially flogging off wheels from others..

Robert Serotic

Ion Saliu..

Dennis been there, done that..

here in Australia last frontier of Lotto for those who seek
statistical truth

But i dont play every draw only when i feel its worth it when the
jackpot gets to a certain level

personally i would like to work with other Lottery Game Analysts
(which i consider myself to be) even play together with them in a
syndicate..cos Lotto is expensive hobby at $1 a game or 50 cent a game
huge catrostrophic odds and play they cheat from the start with all
this "Randomization" attempts..ha ha

As the idiot has published incorrect odds for OzLotto despite me
providing the link in a previous post I'll reproduce them here from
the Tattersall's site: -

Nine objects are randomly selected without replacement from Forty Five
objects each physical object being indistinguishable from the others
apart from the color and identification number from 1 to 45. If you
were blindfolded you would not be able to tell one from the other as
the weight and shape are identical.

The first seven objects randomly selected are the main numbers and the
last two are the supplementary or bonus numbers. Getting one, two or
three main numbers correct will not get you a prize. You need three
main numbers + one or two bonus numbers for the minimum prize. The
cost per line of seven integers is $1.00 and if you played 13 lines
with an average payout of $13.00 you would break even.

OzLotto Game odds

It is common for there to be no winner for 1st Prize (with carryovers
it has reached $90 million) and not uncommon for no winner for 2nd
Prize per game. 3rd prize typically pays $5,200, 4th $325, 5th $42,
6th $21 and 7th $13. The OzLotto draw is held each Tuesday. Frequency
of numbers since October 12th, 2005 varies from three numbers
appearing 47 times to one appearing 72 times with an average of 59 (13
or 31% between 57 and 61) and can be viewed here: -
